So Long Sweet Baby Scent

Alas, the time of lavender chamomile lotions is no more.  Little Stephen Ross has eczema (atopic dermatitis in the veterinary world... for when I diagnose my son as if he were an animal) - just like 10-15% of other babies out there.  Fortunately, it is easy to control and outgrow before school-age.  Just a few modifications with the wash (continue with Dreft, but double rinse), keeping him cooler rather than warmer and maintaining breastmilk diet as long as possible are ancillary treatments to the cream (smells like nothing - so not cute baby scent I have come to love) and steroid ointment.

His pediatrician also diagnosed him with reflux, so ranitidine has been started too.  Poor SR looks and probably feels like a little old man.  Crusty, itchy skin and heartburn all the time... not to mention the hair falling out on the sides of his head.  I mean, he is still a looker because he is mine, but lets not use the zoom function for a little while.

Being a first time mom and avid google-er, I worry about him far too often.  God has given my family a perfect, healthy, growing (12lb 9oz at 11 wks) baby boy.  Three month old clothing is getting tight, as are the size 1 diapers (which are likely a contributing factor to power poops - see below), so he is in some 6 month old clothing and, starting today, size 2 diapers.  The rest of my loved ones, too, have been generously blessed with their health and the joy and love that keeps us together as a crazy family.

Along with the "so long sweet baby scent": power poops.  These started about 10 weeks of age, where he does not dirty a diaper for almost 24 hours.  After fussing, the floodgates open.  Usually through his onesie and my outfit too.  He looks so satisfied and almost proud after.  Proportionately, I would have to have cholera to relate to what leaves his cute little body.

No pics today, as those concerning this topic would probably get my blog shut down.
